Capsules are equipped items. Passive capsules work while equipped. Active capsules must be turned on and then last a short time. The catalog marks Charge, Garden, Gravity Chamber, Motorcycle, Refrigerator, and Respawn as active. Every other standard name is listed without that tag, so treat it as passive unless the item text says otherwise.
Unlock the system
Go to Capsule Corp in West City. Two scientists stand there.
Dr. Briefs starts research. You defeat a set number of enemies and report back, and he gives a capsule. The early walkthrough says to accept the quota immediately so kills count while you quest. Frogs were one of the counts, at 50, alongside other species.
Dr. Briefs' assistant sells two extra capsule slots for Zeni. Equip from M, then press period to use the capsule bar.
Uses that are actually described
Weighted Clothing is the early equipment the walkthrough puts on for training and takes off when a quest needs speed. Piccolo's orb run and the Satan City laps are the examples. Community guides associate it with an experience bonus and a speed penalty. An exact percent is not printed on the capsule list, so check the item text.
Motorcycle is active. Milk Delivery forbids flying and still allows this ground mount. Cut through the canyon instead of following the long path.
The dash capsule in the first video raised dash charges from three to six while it was activated. The list does not pin that effect to a single name. Dodge and Surge are both in the catalog. Read the equipped item rather than guessing which one changed the bars.
Named boss drops:
- Lord Slug: Eternal Youth and Gum Gum Rocket.
- Banaras: Power Bomb.
- Halloween capsules: Blood Feud, Grounded, Showstopper, Trick or Treat, and Vital Sphere.
Share capsules between characters
Clear the Abandoned Lab Dungeon at least once. An intern at Capsule Corporation will upload a capsule to the cloud for 25,000 Zeni. That copy is then available to your other characters, including event capsules you would otherwise lose when the event ends. The upload removes the need to research the same capsule on every slot.
What not to assume
Most names in the catalog do not have a published effect or a unique drop. The capsule list keeps every documented name and only fills an effect when one was stated. Dragon Body, Black Flash, and Gravity Chamber are real items. Their combat numbers were not in the sources used here.
Zeni is the shop currency on skill and capsule prices. Some player guides spell it Zenni. Candy is a separate Halloween currency spent at Baba's shop, not a replacement for Zeni.
